TransPerfect Translations Opens Office in Hong Kong
December 4, 2001 - Hoping to recreate in Asia the success the company has had in developing its European operations, US-based TransPerfect Translations International, Inc. announced today the recent opening of its office in Hong Kong.
The office is expected to serve as a hub for growing TransPerfect's Asian business much as the company's London office did for its European growth. In deference to the great difference in time zone, project management staff as well as sales staff has been a part of the early plan in Hong Kong.
A collection of local Hong Kong companies have already been added to TransPerfect's client list since the opening, but CEO Liz Elting and International Operations VP Michael Sank point out that the expectations for the region stretch far beyond Hong Kong.
"Obviously China's upcoming entry into the WTO has us looking across that border, as well as toward other Southeast Asian markets" says Sank. "It is exciting setting up our Asian hub in Hong Kong, a city that is home to a number of companies and law firms for whom we already do business in many of our other offices. Hong Kong is a natural for us."
