NEW YORK, August 25, 2010 – TransPerfect, the world’s largest privately held provider of language and business services, has been named to Inc.’s fourth annual Inc. 5000 list, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. TransPerfect’s revenues grew from $113M in 2006 to $221M in 2009—a three year growth rate of 96%.
Founded in 1992, the TransPerfect family of companies provides a full range of global business services in over 100 languages, including translation, interpretation, cultural consulting, desktop publishing, legal services, and staffing solutions. The company also offers a suite of technology products that reduce the time, effort, and costs associated with translation workflows and the management of global content.
The 2010 Inc. 5000, unveiled yesterday on Inc.com, serves as a unique illustration of the changes taking place in the U.S. economy. Despite the fact that most of this year’s measuring period of 2006-2009 took place during the latest recession, aggregate revenue among the companies on the list actually increased to $321.6 billion, up more than 50 percent from last year. The effects of the recession are seen, however, in the median three-year growth rate, which dropped to 96 percent from last year’s 126 percent. This year’s Inc. 5000 employ a record 1.4 million people, up from one million on last year’s list. Business Products & Services had the most companies on this year’s list with 640, followed by IT Services (607), Advertising & Marketing (410), Health (396), and Government Services (336).
“The leaders of the companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression,” said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”
TransPerfect Co-CEO Liz Elting added, “At TransPerfect, our goal is to continually innovate—to always remain one step ahead of the evolving needs of our clients. To that end, we’ve worked hard throughout this year to add value to our clients’ global initiatives by providing the most advanced services and technologies in the industry. Of course, we will always remain committed to our core principles: the highest level of quality and client service.”
