Johannesburg, South Africa Office Opens for Business
NEW YORK, February 27, 2013 – TransPerfect, the world’s largest privately held provider of language services and technology solutions, today announced the opening of its newest client service office in Johannesburg, South Africa. With this opening, TransPerfect’s global footprint expands to six continents.
As a major world financial center, Johannesburg has the largest economy of any metropolitan region in sub-Saharan Africa and is home to Africa’s largest stock exchange. The city has a strong legacy as a mining powerhouse, and many of the world’s leading mining companies have operations there. However, in recent years, other industries, including manufacturing, banking, IT, transportation and consumer retail have also grown to become key components of the city’s economy. Major companies with South African roots include Old Mutual, De Beers, South African Airways, SASOL, and MTN Group.
According to TransPerfect Co-CEO Liz Elting, “As one of the major commercial and financial hubs in Africa, Johannesburg was the clear choice for our next location. We are thrilled to be opening our first location in Africa, and we look forward to serving our clients throughout the region.”
