While AI relies heavily on data gathering and analytics to improve models, it must also gather data on user responses. DataForce user studies allow clients to collect data on how well their products and technology work, both in the real world and in targeted scenarios. DataForce works with our clients to understand their goals and gathers data in the most efficient way possible to optimize user studies.
The process starts with a detailed client discussion to understand the parameters of the study:
- Is there a specific language or spoken accent to use?
- Should the study take place in a specific region of the world?
- Will the study target a single demographic or a range of demographics?
- Is there a specific technology or competitor to evaluate—a phone, smart speaker, car, or other IoT device?
- Are there specific security protocols that need to be followed?
- How controlled does the study environment need to be?
- What are the specifications and setup of the study environment?
- What type of data is to be collected, and how will it be analyzed?

- Remote Studies
Moderated Studies
Moderated studies are typically executed in a controlled environment to reduce unwanted, unintentional variables that can skew the data. They could take place at a client’s office location, in a home environment, in a car, or in another simulated environment needed for the study. A proctor is on hand to conduct the study and provide direct observation on behalf of the client. The role of the proctor is to ensure that the goals of the participant interaction during the study are met and the study data is safely captured.
Example: A study of 100 native-speaking Canadian French participants testing two competitive smart speakers to see which one responds best when they use the speakers in their native language.
Remote Studies
Remote studies are less controlled and may be designed to evaluate a wider range of contexts. A typical study may want to collect data on how users use a specific technology in their daily lives or how well the technology works in situations that are more “real world.”
Example: A study of 1,000 people around the globe using smart speakers in which data is collected to track top uses for the device.
